Retro News: N64 and Nintendo DS on Wii U Virtual Console

Today's most recent Nintendo Direct brought some exciting news to the retro gaming community. The Nintendo Wii U will now be expanding upon it's Virtual Console lineup with the addition of N64 and Nintendo DS games. Starting today, you can now purchase and download Super Mario 64 and Yoshi's Island (DS) for just $9.99 each. The pricing for future virtual console releases...
will range from $9.99 - $11.99 or if you have previously purchased Wii virtual console games and wish to update them to the Wii U version the cost would be just $2.00. Here is a list of what Nintendo plans to release over the next few weeks:

April 1, 2015

  • Yoshi's Touch & Go
  • WarioWare Touched

  • Donkey Kong 64
April 23, 2015

Also announced in the Nitendo Direct presentation: Mario Maker, a title I am very excited about, now has a release window of sometime in September. Some new gameplay footage was also showcased and it looks amazing. I can't wait to start designing my own Mario levels.
